TIGER MAPLE FULL STOCK FLINTLOCK RIFLE. Smoothbore with 45.5" barrel of about 60 caliber. Lock is unmarked and is missing the screw that retains the hammer - needs a little work to make it function properly. Tiger maple stock has shrunk back from lock a little bit and there are a couple of old cracks on both sides of the wrist, but overall it is very nice - you can feel a ridge at every stripe. The barrel is octagon for the first 15 inches then turns round with two grooves separating the two profiles. Also has some light engraving on the left side flat with a square proof mark. Rear sight dovetail has been filled with a brass blank. Brass sideplate has the number 1 engraved on it. A likely militia used weapon from 1760-1780. Estimate $1,500 - 2,500.
